Information about Halkidiki, Greece
The peninsula known as Halkidiki, which may also be written Chalkidiki, is located in northern Greece. It is situated on the Aegean Sea not too far from Thessaloniki and is made up of three regions that are together referred to as “fingers.” These regions are Kassandra, Sithonia, and Athos. It is a wonderful place to spend your holiday, but in my view, even seasoned visitors neglect it as an option for their next trip. It would seem that the lovely islands of Greece are visited by a considerably larger number of people, whereas the region of Halkidiki has a very low level of notoriety. Read on if you’re curious about Halkidiki.
Where is Halkidiki?
The region of Halkidiki in Greece is considered to be a part of Macedonia, which is found in the northern portion of the country. More precisely, this region can be found in the middle of Macedonia, in the south, and just next to Thessaloniki. Chalkidiki is similar to a peninsula that extends from the continent of Macedonia, and it boasts one of the greatest coastlines in the North Aegean.
There are three peninsulas located in the southern region of Halkidiki, Greece. These are the Kassandra region, the Sithonia coastline, and also the Athos coast. The Kassandra is indeed located in the south-western section of Chalkidiki, and it has the appearance of just an island due to the New Potidea’s waterway, which is located near the city of Moudania and separates it from the mainland. Both the Sithonia peninsula, which can be found in the southern portion of Chalkidiki, as well as the Athos region, which can be found in the south-eastern section of Chalkidiki and is home to the well-known Holy Mount Athos, are considered to be peninsulas.
